Good News – MEA-Negotiated 5% General Salary Increase Begins to Hit Paychecks This Week!

Last year, MEA members ratified the current MOU which includes a general salary increase for all MEA-represented classifications. We are happy to remind you that effective July 1, you received a 5% pay raise, and that increase will begin to be seen in this week’s paycheck.

Since July 1 occurred in the middle of a pay period, only about half of the impact of your salary increase will be felt in this week’s paycheck. In the paycheck you receive two weeks from now, the full effect of the July 1 increase will be realized.

Along with other recent contract improvements and Special Salary Adjustments, this general salary increase is a good start to addressing the long-standing recruitment and retention problems facing the City. But there is definitely more work to do. Help us maintain the momentum by staying involved and helping your coworkers understand how we can move forward together to build a better City for employees and residents alike.

Our negotiations for our next MOU will begin in January. This Fall, you can cast your vote to help elect new MEA Negotiating Team representatives in your bargaining unit. Watch your email inbox for more information.

Also be on the lookout for opportunities to attend upcoming MEA events, including another MEA Night at the Padres game in August, the General Membership Meeting in September, and the Holiday Party in December.
