Sharp Health Plan Issuing New Non-Medicare Retiree Member ID Cards & Numbers

ATTN: Non-Medicare Retirees Enrolled in Sharp Health Plan

Sharp Health Plan is upgrading its core administrative system and portals on January 1, 2018, to improve The Sharp Experience for their customers and providers. The system upgrade will help Sharp meet the needs of an evolving and more complex health care industry, and enable more responsive, efficient, self-service tools for their customers.

With this upgrade Sharp Health Plan will be mailing new Member ID cards, which will include a new Member Identification number starting with the number 92. These cards will be mailed to all Sharp Health Plan enrollees in late December. This only applies to non-Medicare Sharp enrollees. Retirees on the Medicare plan will NOT get a new card.

Please continue using your current ID card until December 31, 2017. Beginning January 1, 2018, you will need to carry your new Member ID card with you, and present it when accessing care and filling prescriptions.

Sharp will be contacting employees enrolled in the MEA sponsored coverage via a pre-recorded call starting on 12/7/17. This call is just to notify our enrollees of the upcoming change in id numbers and the arrival of new cards.

Starting on 12/11/17 Sharp will start sending out the new ID cards in batches by zip code. Not all cards will be sent on the same day so the arrival to individuals could be intermittent.

Your new Member ID card will offer higher durability and easier access to cost share and contact information. Please make sure your personal information located on the front of your new ID card is correct.

If you have questions, please contact MEA’s Benefits Department at 888 217-9175 or email us at benefits@sdmea.org.
