GOOD NEWS – MEA Has Secured An Additional 15% Special Salary Increase for Public Works Dispatchers!
As a result of MEA’s existing two-year labor contract negotiated with the City last year, all MEA-represented employees are already scheduled to receive a 5% general salary increase on July 1, 2022.
Our current contract also allows for a limited “reopener” to negotiate additional Special Salary Adjustments (SSAs) to become effective in the coming Fiscal Year, and MEA has reached an agreement with the City for a new 15% SSA for Public Works Dispatchers! The City Council approved the agreement at its open session meeting earlier today.
Accordingly, Public Works Dispatchers (Public Works Dispatcher and Public Works Dispatch Supervisor) will receive the following pay raises over the next 9 months:
- 10% special assignment pay effective retroactively back to January 1, 2022 (and converted into base pay increase effective July 1, 2022)
- 5% general salary increase on July 1, 2022
- 5% special salary increase on January 1, 2023
These pay increases compound upon one another, which means that by the beginning of the new year your pay will be 21.3% higher than your pay today.
These pay increases are the product of a multi-year advocacy campaign for more competitive pay and benefits for MEA-represented employees. MEA’s entire leadership team, its staff and legal counsel have all been single-minded in their focus to get general and special salary increases like these implemented by the City.
MEA also wishes to recognize and appreciate the leadership of Mayor Todd Gloria and the City Council for their support of these well-deserved pay increases.
