MEA Contract Ratification Voting is NOW OPEN — Cast Your Vote Today!

As we announced last Wednesday, MEA’s Negotiating Team has reached a tentative agreement with the City for a new one-year labor contract (“MOU”).  Click here to read last week’s announcement and a summary of the tentative agreement.

This tentative agreement must now be ratified by you, the members of MEA. Typically, our ratification process involves meetings at locations throughout the City and in-person voting.  But this year will obviously be different due to the COVID pandemic.

You will be casting your vote online via MEA’s secure website.  Voting is open NOW and will continue to stay open through Thursday, May 14 at 5:00 p.m.

Your MEA Negotiating Team strongly recommends a YES vote on this contract.

To assist you further, we have two additional pieces of information in this message: 1) a video from General Manager Michael Zucchet summarizing the tentative agreement at the bottom of this message and 2) a “frequently asked questions” document written by MEA Attorney and Lead Negotiator Ann Smith.  Together with our e-blast from last week announcing the tentative deal, hopefully you will have enough information to inform your vote.

If however you have unanswered questions or need more information, please don’t hesitate to reach out to MEA.  Our general email is info@sdmea.org and our phone number is 619-264-6632.  If you want to contact one of our representatives directly, their information can be found at the bottom of this message.

Only MEA members are eligible to vote.  If you are not an MEA member, please contact Nichole Johnson at njohnson@sdmea.org for a membership application.

When you are ready to vote, click HERE If you are already logged into MEA’s website, the link will take you directly to the vote.  If you are not logged in, you will need to do that before being allowed to vote.  If you have never registered on MEA’s website before, you will need to do that before voting.  Registering is easy and should only take a few seconds — we just need to verify that you are an MEA member before voting.  If you have any difficulty registering, please contact Nichole Johnson at 619-890-6830 or njohnson@sdmea.org.?

Thank you for your participation in this critical vote to ratify MEA’s tentative agreement with the City for a new one-year MOU!
