PSC Hearing at City Council

Thank you to those who attended MEA’s November 18th informational meeting concerning the recent purchase of service credit (PSC) decision by the Court of Appeals.  At the meeting, Ann Smith highly recommended that all active and retired employees with an affected PSC contract communicate with the City Council regarding the issue.  Next Monday, November 29, the City Council will hold a hearing regarding the PSC issue at 2:00 p.m. and all affected employees are encouraged to attend and speak at the hearing.  Ann Smith will be making a presentation, and we encourage individuals to testify as well—to tell the Council about the personal impact of this decision and anything else that you believe is relevant to the issue.  If you are unable to attend the hearing (and even if you are able to attend the hearing), please contact City Councilmembers via phone or e-mail before Monday.  If you live in the City of San Diego, please consider picking up the phone and calling YOUR Councilmember to talk about the issue.  Please remind Councilmembers that City employees are taxpaying constituents as well and they deserve to be heard by their elected representatives.  You can find contact information for every Council office on the City’s website at www.sandiego.gov.  If you have questions or need any additional information, please feel free to call MEA at 619-264-6632.  We hope to see you Monday afternoon at the City Council meeting!
