MEA Contract Ratification Vote is Set for Wednesday, June 5th

As a follow up to our message announcing MEA’s tentative agreement with the City over a new multi-year contract, the MEA member contract ratification vote will be held on Wednesday, June 5 at four locations around the City:

Downtown Concourse (Silver Room) from 7:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m.

MEA Boardroom (9620 Chesapeake Drive, Suite 203 in Kearny Mesa) from 7:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m.

Chollas (Roadways Meeting Room) from 7:00 a.m. 4:00 p.m.

Police HQ (Conference Room 213) 11:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m.

Please note that only MEA members are eligible to vote in this ratification election. At each voting site, members of MEA’s elected Negotiating Team and MEA staff will be available to answer questions regarding the tentative agreement. If you haven’t already done so, please review the e-blast from Tuesday, May 28 by clicking here which explains the various aspects of the proposed contract, as well as the rationale for the recommendation from your Negotiating Team to support the deal. In addition, we will be sending out a follow up e-blast in the next few days to provide further explanation and clarification on the issues that we have been getting the most questions about since the tentative agreement was first announced.

Employees are to be provided with one hour of City-sponsored leave time in order to vote at one of the four sites. Department Directors have been notified that MEA’s ratification vote is taking place on June 5 and that employees need to be accommodated—at management’s discretion—in order to be able to vote on this proposed contract. At each site, light snacks and water will also be available.

Please make sure that your voice is heard on this tentative agreement! We look forward to seeing you on Wednesday, June 5th.
