MORE GOOD NEWS – MEA HAS SECURED A SIGNIFICANT INCREASE IN DISPATCHER TRAINING PAY IN NEW 3-YEAR CONTRACT

As a follow up to MEA’s E-blast regarding contract negotiations, MEA’s Tentative Agreement (TA) with the City includes a significant increase in dispatcher training pay starting in July 2027.

Currently, dispatchers functioning in a training capacity as part of a formal training program receive $.90 per hour additional pay.  Assuming this TA is ratified by MEA’s membership, dispatcher training add-on pay will covert to 5% of base pay effective July 1, 2027.  For many dispatchers, this change will effectively double (approximately) the amount of additional pay received for functioning as a trainer, and as salaries go up over time so will the value of training pay.
