NEW MEA CONTRACT OVERWHELMINGLY RATIFIED BY MEMBERS!

Thank you to all the MEA members who took the time to vote on our new 3-year Tentative Agreement yesterday.

We had a record-shattering turnout!  The contract was overwhelmingly ratified by a vote of 2,314 in favor to only 12 opposed, which amounts to a 99.5% “yes” vote to support the recommendation of MEA’s negotiating team.  That 99.5% approval is also a record, indicative of the enthusiasm for the substantial general salary increases and other economic improvements contained in this agreement.

The next step is for the City Council to formally adopt a resolution approving a new MEA Memorandum of Understanding at an upcoming open session meeting, which will likely take place in early June.  The Council has already approved the terms of this agreement in a closed session meeting in April.
