Additional Information Regarding the New “Option C” Retiree Medical Plan

In advance of the February 1 deadline for eligible employees to select one of the three new Retiree Health options, the San Diego City Employees Retiree Medical Trust (SDCERMT) will be hosting six informational meetings in order to answer questions regarding the administration of the Option C Plan. The meetings will take place in the large conference room of the San Diego Police Officers Association (POA) located at 8388 Vickers Street in Kearny Mesa (92111).  The meetings will be held on Thursday, January 19, 2012 and Monday, January 23, 2012 and will last approximately one hour.  There will be three meeting times on each day: 8:00 a.m., 12:00 noon and 5:00 p.m.  There is limited parking in the POA lot in front of their building, but street parking is available.

These meetings are open to all City employees who are considering selecting Retiree Health Option C.  The meetings will be attended by SDCERMT Trustees, as well as the Administrator and Financial Manager for the Trust, who can answer all of your questions related to how each employees’ Option C funds will be administered and invested.  In addition, SDCERMT will soon be publishing a list of frequently asked questions (FAQs) related to Option C, including information about investment options, governance, administration, etc., which will address many of the questions that employees have been asking.  Those FAQs will be e-blasted by MEA as soon as they are finalized by SDCERMT, which will likely be this Monday, January 9, 2012.

In addition to the FAQs and informational meetings, as always, please don’t hesitate to contact MEA at 619-264-6632 if you have questions or need more information on your Retiree Medical Option selection.
