DSD LMC Update
Your DSD LMC met on Tuesday, May 20th and discussed the following items:
1. HVAC System/Air Quality:
The building vents were cleaned in April. Air quality tests were done on the 3rd floor during the week of May 12-16. Results from the tests are expected in 4-6 weeks.
2. PNED/DSD Split:
As of July 1, 2014, PN&ED and DSD will be officially separate departments. Subsequent to the LMC meeting, Bill Fulton met with staff and announced that PN&ED will be moving to the Executive Complex Building in Fall 2014. DSD has no plans to move from the current locations of COB and Ridgehaven. DSD is working on floor-by-floor space-planning and furniture upgrades and is making plans to complete them once funding becomes available.
3. Fee Increase:
A 3% fee increase will be implemented on July 1, 2014. Management expects June 2014 to be very busy in advance of this increase. Further, a comprehensive fee study currently being conducted is expected to be in effect by early 2015.
4. Department Staffing:
DSD continues to hire staff in all areas and positions across the department. New management positions and an organizational re-structure will go into effect with the new fiscal year, starting July 1, 2014.
5. Open DSD:
As Open DSD is rolled out, MEA will be monitoring and plans to have discussions regarding the impact on our represented employees.
