DSD LMC Update

The DSD Labor-Management Committee met on October 23, 2012.

The following issues were discussed:

1. Hiring Freeze and impact to the department – The hiring freeze has been lifted. The department has hired or is in the process of hiring for various positions throughout the department.

2. Status of Building Improvements – Kelly Broughton informed us that $70,000 has been allocated for building improvements. The Employee Advisory Committee (EAC) is gathering information regarding what that amount of funds could be used for. The EAC will be seeking input from staff regarding preferences and priorities of potential improvements in the form of a survey once the information is received. The EAC hopes the information regarding what size or scope of improvement could be achieved with $70,000 will be gathered and the surveys will be sent out by the end of the year.

3. DSD Re-organization – The department re-organization is ongoing. MEA encourages all of our represented employees to review their current performance plans so they are aware of their responsibilities and know what is expected of them. If you have a new supervisor, you should receive a new Performance Plan and have a discussion with your supervisor about what is expected of you.

4. Kelly Broughton informed us that the department is being audited by the State of California. The auditors will be in the Development Services building for the next 3-4 months reviewing projects and procedures. During this audit some employees may be interviewed. If you are contacted by one of the auditors, notify your supervisor and Kelly immediately.
