Good News! MEA-negotiated Special Salary Adjustments hit paychecks this week

We are happy to remind you that effective January 1, your classification received a 5% SSA, and the full increase will be seen in this week’s paycheck.

Nearly three years ago, MEA members ratified the current MOU which includes both general and special salary increases (SSAs). Over the three years, your job classification has received 21% in General Salary Increases and at least two 5% Special Salary Increases. January’s amount is the last increase scheduled under the current MOU, which ends at midnight on June 30 of this year.

More information can be found in Article 21 of the MOU.

What’s Next?

This is an extremely challenging time for budget discussions and negotiations with City revenues down. However, with both, it is still early in the process and necessary key information is still pending. There are paths forward and MEA’s staff, Officers, Executive Committee, Negotiating Team and Board members are fighting hard for you.

We have been monitoring budget documents and sharing our insights with the Mayor’s Office and Councilmembers on how to balance the important priorities of the City. We will continue to do so. Please continue to reach out and share your experiences with us.

There are many steps in both the contract negotiation and City budget process still to come but we will continue to keep you posted as things develop and come to a conclusion later this Spring.
